NWDA

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) leads the economic development and regeneration of England's Northwest. As a business-led organisation, the NWDA provides a crucial link between the needs of business and Government policies. As such, a major responsibility for the Agency is to help create an environment in which businesses in the region can flourish through offering business support, encouraging new start-ups, matching skills provision to employer needs and bringing business investment into the region.


Mersey Basin Campaign

The Mersey Basin Campaign works within the catchments of the River Mersey and River Ribble, in the counties of Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Much of their work is aiming to repair the damage done to the region's rivers by industrialisation and to foster a future that is modern and prosperous with an improved environment.


Institute of Environmental Management (IEMA)

The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) is a not-for-profit organisation established to promote best practice standards in environmental management, auditing and assessment. Its origins lie in the merger in 1999 of the Institute of Environmental Management, the Institute of Environmental Assessment, and the Environmental Auditors Registration Association.
With over 10,000 individual and corporate members, the IEMA is now a leading international membership-based organisation dedicated to the promotion of sustainable development, and to the professional development of individuals involved in the environmental profession, whether they be in the public, private or non-governmental sectors.


University of Manchester

The University of Manchester has been created by bringing together The Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST, two of Britain's most distinguished universities, to create a powerful new force in British Higher Education.

Manchester has a long tradition of excellence in Higher Education. UMIST can trace its roots back to 1824 and the formation of the Manchester Mechanics' Institute, whilst The Victoria University of Manchester was founded as Owens College in 1851.

After 100 years of working together, these two great institutions are formally combining to form a single university, coming into being on 22 October 2004.
