This is an 8-week summer placement, which is aimed at ambitious 2nd and 3rd year students. The placements are usually based in a small/medium-sized organisation (SME) and during the 8-week period you will have the opportunity to manage and deliver a real life business project. You will also be paid a training allowance of £190 per week.
This placement provides the opportunity to work in an industrial/commercial environment on a scientific problem of direct interest to the partnering company. The placement involves spending 3-18 months with the co-operating body in the work place. The main benefit of this programme is that you will have the opportunity to develop vocational skills, valued in the work place, whilst gaining your PhD.
These projects last for 12-36 months and 70% of associates are offered employment by the host company, following project completion. Knowledge transfer partnerships can provide you with the right platform to launch your career as well as a professional qualification. You will also gain the ability to earn your value in the market place and it is also a way to apply your qualification to your job.
